PDG 2005 Team Awards

We are proud to present our shortlist of client projects that we feel best represent our efforts over the last 12 months. It has been an exciting period of growth for PDG, with many of the projects short listed setting new standards in creativity, thinking and technical implementation.

As normal in these situations there needs to be a winner so we can all dress up, go to town, drink too much and pretend it's the Oscars and we will be announcing the winners over the next few days.

There is also an "Account Director's Special Edition" commentary on the site which talks through each project in turn.

Channel Marketing Strategy brings success…

Just days after publishing our channel marketing client brief we were appointed by Pipex to manage the roll out of their new channel marketing strategy. This involves a highly functional web site as the key deliverable but also covers brand, sales tools, collateral and event support.

What WOMM is...

It had to happen I suppose - the delightfully weird www.betterbadnews.com - is now defining Word of Mouth as "conversation spam".

"There you are standing at the water cooler and some Buzz agent interupts you - telling you about brand x or brand y."

Their solution - Buzz Agents should be shot on sight!!

I'll never mention Sky+ ever again...

Bing Crosby / Robbie Williams connection...

Listening to Radio One this morning they started to take the piss out of Robbie Williams who refuses to "do any negative stuff"...

"You've got to accentuate the positive. Eliminate the negative. Latch on to the affirmative Don't mess with Mister In-Between" - lyrics from Bing Crosby (written by Johnny Mercer / Harold Arlen. )

I'm not advocating rose tinted glasses here - sometimes things are bad, sometimes things go wrong. How we react to these events - what our general position on life is - defines your identity and has an effect on those around us.

So choose your attitude - choose to smile - choose to laugh - choose to have fun...

Life is good.

UK companies ignore online enquiries - Muppets...

Research by Cranfield School of Management says that less than half of the UK's biggest spending advertisers responded to a customer request within 48 hours, and 30 percent didn't respond at all. Shock Horror!

My initial dismay turned into the following thought - it's not actually that surprising because they're being rated by ad spend!! - i.e. that's hardly a benchmark for an intelligent approach to marketing nowadays... they're obviously not the brightest of companies if they're still throwing money at advertising and hoping it sticks.

Now - if research was carried out into the most efficient customer response companies - I'm guessing they would be lean mean companies - spending bugger all on adverts!!

RSS News Feed to PDG 4G website

We're testing the new PDG website at the moment so this is a post to see what the RSS feed into the news area looks like - when it's just a post - and not a podcast with shownotes etc.

The current plan is to get the new site up during next week but we've got quite a lot of google / landing page stuff to sort out.

The new site uses the PDG 4G-CMS - and it's a much better representation of our current market position and messaging...
